本書作者為西醫執業醫師，自研《傷寒論》20年，出版多部中醫類圖書。作者本書借助《病理生理學》等西醫書籍針對疾病目前的研究發現，對《傷寒論》原文逐條解讀，力求用樸素、客觀的語言闡述所知所覺所悟，據實推演醫聖張仲景通過脈證特點所描述的疾病的發生、發展及最後轉歸的規律、基本機制及診療方法。絕對不能把西醫診斷的某疾病的病名生拉硬拽與某經方捆綁在一起，需要實事求是的辨證的綜合分析疾病的來龍去脈。在解讀《傷寒論》的過程中，對於可能缺失文字或後人填補及個別錯誤的條文不會牽強附會，涉及脈象特點、針灸方法等基礎中醫理論不做贅述。
